Moyale-Wanderers Match Grosses K4. 4 Million

The TNM Super League match between Moyale Barracks FC and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has grossed K4.4 million.

This is against the big crowd that thronged to the old Mzuzu stadium to capacity and with earlier projections of K7.5 million expected to be collected.

This is ccording to the region’s Super League of Malawi’s representative, Henz Banda who expressed satisfaction with the gate management on Saturday.

“We have grossed K4.4 million,” he said.

Earlier on Saturday morning the Sports Development officer responsible for infrastructure development, MacMillan Mwale inspected the Mzuzu stadium which he said needs quick rehabilitation on both, the turf and terraces.

“The facility isn’t in that condemnation state as purported by quarters, however we are going to look into areas which needs urgent attention and see how best we move on without necessarily disturbing other activities, mind you these facilities are there to generate funds,” Mwale said.

Last weekend Silver Strikers coach, Pieter De Jongh described the Mzuzu stadium as a paddock where even his dogs cannot like to play on.

During this year’s Mzuzu Half Marathon, the Chairperson of the Board of Malawi National Sports Council, Judge Sunduzwayo Madise assured sports enthusiasts that the Council will assist in rehabilitating the arena constructed in the 1970s by convicts then serving sentences from Mzuzu prison.
