1000 Malawians Seek Medical health in India Annually
The Indian High Commissioner to Malawi, Gopalakrishnan, says the embassy issues about 1,000 medical visas a year to Malawians seeking specialized treatment in India.
The envoy said there have been attempts by Indian investors to set up state-of-the-art medical facilities in the country to mirror those that treat locals abroad, but there has been a lack of political will for Malawi.
He believes that setting up the facility would help Malawians and the government save money otherwise used for medical expenses.
He spoke last night at a seminar in Blantyre, focusing on perspectives on the Indian Diaspora in Malawi.
