Minister Hails Former MEC Commissioner For Construction Of Bandawe Mission Maternity Wing
Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has commended Reverend Mezuwa Banda for his contribution towards improving safe motherhood in the country.
The commendation comes in the wake of the Church minister in the Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) of Livingstonia Synod’s pledge to single-handedly fund the construction of a maternity wing at Bandawe Mission Station Clinic in Nkhata Bay district.
Reverend Banda pledged during his double celebration of a 70th birthday and 45th wedding anniversary which is in complement of government’s efforts in provision of quality health services across the country.
Speaking to the Malawi Daily Telegraph during the celebration, the Homeland Security minister says Bandawe is the origin of Christianity in Malawi where the first mission hospital was built.
“It has taken senior members of the church to rejuvenate the spirits that were brought by the missionaries by constructing new structures at this place. Government commends Reverend Banda for continuing the good works by considering construction of the maternity wing,” Ng’oma said.
Reverend Banda says he consider himself one of the blessed people privileged to work in several capacities like being commissioner for the Malawi Electoral Commission and many other places where remunerations were attractive.
“When God blesses you, you also have to think of others that surround you and give them support in one way or the other. As such, I have decided that the proceeds of these celebrations should go towards the construction of a martenity wing at Bandawe Mission Station Clinic,” Mezuwa said.
