A 29-year-old, mother of one Florence Chinganyama of Chilomoni Township in the city of Blantyre is among the country’s youths who struggled to break into the saturated job market to the point of giving up.
However, instead of giving up on life, she decided not to concentrate on anything to do with white collar job hunting but ventured into a small-scale business which is male dominated.
To her credit, before engaging into any serious business venture Chinganyama had to sample out comparisons of different results of research findings gathered through market analyses hence chose to start selling porridge flour, locally known as “Ufa wa Phala,” a business that has now grown from time to time into a medium scale enterprise.
Proceeds from Chinganyama’s flour packed in bags weighing 1 kilogramme were used to procure additional consignments of various food items including beans, cooking oil, soya and flour.
Speaking to the Malawi Daily Telegraph the charming business lady couldn’t hide her excitement when she said, “i started my business with only a few bags of porridge flour. It’s not much but trust me, I am where I am because of those few bags,” Chinganyama said.
Meanwhile, her business has tremendously grown to a point of being able to support herself and her child.
“Being a single mother, I knew from the start that if I give up easily, my child will suffer, therefore my simple advice to single mothers across the country is never to give up but consider venturing into entrepreneurship,” she added.
Chinganyama farther added stating the country’s youth can only develop and contribute towards achieving Agenda 2063 if they realise that giving up is not an option citing the inspirational renowned entrepreneur Triphornia Mpinganjira.
Focusing on the future Chinganyama envisioned her business grow into an import and export entity championing quality addition of various locally manufactured goods.
