More Confusion In DPP, Jeffrey Calls For NGC Meeting
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General, Grezeder Jeffrey, has stood her ground. The National Governing Council (NGC) meeting she summoned will proceed tomorrow December 6th as she earlier announced.
This is despite claims by some DPP senior officials claiming that the party leader, Peter Mutharika, is opposing this.
Jeffrey has since issued a statement listing eligible delegates to the NGC based on attendance at the NGC meeting that took place on 2nd July 2018.
Among those on the 71 list of delegates are party President Peter Mutharika and region Vice Presidents Kondwani Nankhumwa, Jappie Mhango and Bright Msaka.
Ironically on Monday some DPP senior officials led by Bright Msaka told Journalists in Lilongwe that Mutharika had sent them to dispute the planned NGC meeting.
It is yet to be seen whether the NGC Indaba will form a quorum as required by the DPP constitution.
Jeffrey is on record having informed the party followers that the DPP has all the required funds to hold the convention.
