Zikhale Calls For Proactive University Students Towards Sustainable National Development

Youths in the country have been challenged to be proactive, playing a critical role in championing various social economic development programmes developing the country.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Director of strategic planning Dr Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma made the remarks in Zomba saying risk taking and innovation are critical pillars of enabling the youths to participate in national development programmes.

Ng’oma who is also Homeland Security Minister made the remarks on Friday during a public lecture he conducted at the constituent college of the University of Malawi ( UNIMA), Chancellor College.

The Homeland Security Minister said, youths plays a critical part in social economic development of any country which is seriously championing development programmes maximising the potential of fresh and innovative minds, advising students to be proactively involved in politics and various spheres of decision making.

“The MCP UNIMA youths wing members must be the custodians and ambassadors of the party because the youths are energetic and their involvement in politics is of paramount,” He said

On his part, the President for the UNIMA student council Charles Letala applauded Ng’oma for taking time to speak to the students, proposing to meet the state president Dr Lazarus Chakwera to map the way forward on how best the students wing can be sustained.

The public lecture was held under the theme; Empowering the youths: the transformative benefits of youth involvement in politics.

During the interaction Ng’oma made a donated K2 million to support the students wing.
