The Speaker Announced Assented Bills In Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Catherine Gotani Hara, MP, announced in Parliament on Monday that the State President, Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has assented to six bills which were passed by the august House during the Second Meeting in the 50th Session of Parliament held in July and August 2023.

Rt. Hon. Gotani Hara announced at the start of the Third Meeting in the 50th Session of Parliament in Lilongwe.

The announcement disclosed the following bills to have been assented to:

i. Bill No. 14 of 2023: International Fund for Agricultural Development Financing for the Financial Access etc., Smallholders and Enterprise;

ii. Bill No 15 of 2023: International Fund for Agricultural Development (Additional Financing for the Programme for Rural Irrigation Development) Loan (Authorisation);

iii. Bill No. 16 of 2023: International Development Association (Food Systems Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa Project- Phase 3) (Authorisation);

iv. Bill No. 17 of 2023: International Bank for Reconstruction (Food System Resilience Programme for Eastern and Southern Africa Project – Phase 3);

v. Bill No. 18 of 2023: African Development Fund (Rumphi Water and Sanitation Services Improvement Project) Authorisation; and

vi. Bill No 19 of 2023: International Development Association (SADC Regional Statistics Project) (Authorisation).
The Speaker further announced that the six bills were already published in the Gazette, effectively making them laws of this country.
