Court Sets Friday Judgements Day For Former Minister

The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Court has set Thursday next week the day when it will deliver its judgment on former Minister of Information, Henry Mussa and former director of information Gideon Munthali, who were convicted in October last year for conspiracy to commit a felony, theft by public servant and receiving stolen items.

The two were arrested in relation to the disappearance of 10 computers and a stand-by generator donated to the ministry by Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority.

The court heard submissions from the State and mitigations from the defence.

Among others, lawyer representing the former minister Kalekeni Kaphale pleaded with the court to be lenient with Mussa owing to, among others, that he is of old age and that he has been truthful and cooperative throughout the case.
