UTM And Aford Shun Chakwera’s Northern Region Arrival

It is now clear that some major political parties forming the Tonse Alliance have decided to shun activities conducted by the state president, Lazarus Chakwera.

On Thursday the Alliance For Democracy (Aford) supporters who were supposed to welcome President Chakwera in Mzuzu left the Shoprite roundabout before his arrival.

The party supporters were earlier in the day seen removing their party cloths from the Shoprite Mall round about saying that their party president Enock Chihana will not be in attendance to receive the head of state.

AFORD is one of the seven political parties in the Tonse Alliance but also missing at the place was the major Alliance partner, UTM supporters who have for sometime been absent at all presidential functions.

Meanwhile, patronizing the premises to welcome Chakwera were: People’s Party (PP), Freedom Party and the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) supporters.
