Zone VI Scoops FIVB Zonal Association Of The Year Award

The Federation International Of Volleyball (FIVB) has this year recognized its Zone VI of the Federation of African Volleyball (FAVB) for emerging top in nicely coordinating its activities.

Confirming the development in a letter written by the FIVB president, Ary Graca F addressed through the FAVB states that the Zonal Association President’s Seminar’s discussions centered on the plans and activities of the Zone VI which have greatly impressed the FIVB.

“The FIVB is impressed with Zone VI activities and the various events being organised, we truly believe that these efforts will help to empower and foster the development of the national teams in your zone,” reads part of the communique.

The communication further state that the FIVB Technical and Development department has already been mandated to facilitate and provide the prize money of 10 000 CHF as an attachment to the Zonal Association of the year award.

Commenting on the FIVB’s recognition of activities coordinated in the Zone VI on Volleyball Malawi forum, a volleyball enthusiast, Gomezgani Mtegha described the news as incredible.

“This is incredible, mind you, the Zone VI has been recognised by the world Volleyball governing body, FIVB as the best Zonal Association of the year and this is where Malawi is an affiliate,” Mtegha said.

Despite, government’s meagre or no support at all to clubs participating in the Zone VI championships Malawi has been participating in almost all the Zonal club competitions.

The Zone VI of the Federation of African Volleyball comprises of all countries in the Southern Africa Development Community: South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Lesotho, Eswathini, Angola, Mozambique,, Botswana, Namibia and Malawi.
