Meet ‘Draxon Maloya’ On World Press Freedom Day

One of the most fundamental basic needs in our lives is communication, as such we can never underestimate the pivotal role that media practitioners plays towards achieving a sane world.

It is against this background that in 2012 I, Draxon Maloya made a board decision to quit the lucratively paying job in the construction industry and joined the team of young energetic countrymen who chose to take part in building and shaping the country’s fragile democracy using the strength of a pen.

For more than a decade working as an information holder I have a duty to proactively disclose issues that matters while the citizenry have the right to demand access to information

“Media is the fourth pillar of our Democracy and it is our duty to ensure this institution remains free to speak truth to power, raise issues of the common people, and help shape a better future for our country,”

Let journalism thrive

On this auspicious day my message to all the comrades mandated with tasks to inform, educate and entertaining the masses is simple, “I am wishing you all a Happy World Press Freedom Day.”
