Grand Palace Brings Mzuzu Boxing Galore

The Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu City is reviving the boxing sport in the North by organizing an eight-round non-title heavyweight boxing match involving Limbani ‘the Undertaker’ Lano and Bright Mcheni on Sunday, 25th September 2022.

Apart from the main bout, the hotel in partnership with Cane One Boxing Promotion has also lined up a other supporting bouts to spice up the day.

Speaking when confirming about the event, Grand Palace Hotel’s marketing manager, Gregory Maulana said Mzuzu has experienced an eight year boxing drought hence organizing a number of boxing matches involving a pool of talented players.

“Its been close to 7 years since boxing enthusiasts in Mzuzu City gathered in an arena to watch top quality boxing involving some of the country’s finest boxers, it’s going to be the finest moment at the hotel garden by the pool side,” said Maulana.

Maulana also revealed that as part of the hotels corporate social responsibility, it has employed a number of boxers who have been deployed in various departments and they will be using state of the art training facilities when preparing for the games.

Confirming the matches the executive Director of Cane One Boxing Promotion, Gibson Chisale hailed the partnership with Grand Palace Hotel which he said will go a long way in nurturing raw talent to the excitement of the boxing enthusiasts.

“We need such partnerships with organizations and individuals in promoting the sport, the boxing starved Mzuzu residents will now be able to sample the best possible candidates to represent Malawi even at international levelsk,” said Chisale.

To his credit, the Undertaker has fought in a number of World Boxing Association (WBA) sanctioned Cruisesweight Contest during the Fox Sports African Boxing tournaments usually held at the Swazi Royal Spar in Johannesburg.
